What do Sports Chiropractors Do?

Chiropractic Sports Specialists keep active individuals at their best by treating neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction.  Using chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapies (primarily Active Release Technique), modalities (such as Acupuncture), and rehabilitative measures, sports chiropractors aim to restore and enhance the body's neuromusculoskeletal system for peak performance.

The human body is considered an integrated system , not a collection of individual parts.

As a Chiropractic Sports Specialist, Dr. Janice Drover is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of sport related injury.  She is proficient in injury prevention and rehabilitation measures, and has a sound knowledge base of return-to-play criteria.

Why should I see a Sports Chiropractor?

Many of today's athletes utilize a sports chiropractor to prevent injury and to improve bimechanical and neuromuscular function with the ultimate goal of enhancing performance. Postural and muscular imbalances as well as overuse or misuse symdromes may inhibit performance and limit further improvement.

Dr. Janice Drover is ideally suited to help athletes handle these challenges and reach their full potential in today's competitive environment.  Chiropractic Sports Specialists are recognized as the primary providers of spinal and peripherial joint manipulation and adjusting techniques in the world of sports.

How do you become a Chiropractic Sports Specialist?

Doctors of Chiropractic can apply to the College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences Canada, CCSS(C) post-graduate sports fellowship program.  This intensive program includes practical on-field training, academic focus in sports healthcare, and other related criteria that prepare them to serve as experts in the sports health care system.  Once the program is complete, residents have the opportunity to sit for the Fellowship examination.  If successful, they earn the distinction of Fellow of the College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) denoted as FCCSS(C).

In August 2002, Dr. Janice Drover Completed her 2-year post graduate residency at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College which included a 6 month research placement in the Human Performance Lab at the University of Calgary.  She obtained Fellowship status in February 2003.

Chiropractic Sports Specialists have been working with Canada's athletes for over 20 years.  Since the 1998 Winter Olympic Games, the CCSS(C) has been a part of Canada's Core Health Care Team.  Serving elite athletes has lead to affiliations with many institiutions and associations including the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canadian Sport Centres.  Dr. Janice Drover was a service provider for the Canadian Sport Centre Ontario from 2002-2006 and is currently a service provider for the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic.
